In addition to their work as a musician, Nelson enjoys being creative through abstract painting, photography, gardening and poetry. Love for the natural world, ritual elements of creativity, and youth advocacy are central parts of their life both as an artist and an educator. Fluent in Spanish, Swedish, and English, Nelson looks forward to bringing the joy and whimsy of musical discovery to SF families both in and out of the classroom.

Drum circles, chanting, story-telling through song: these are all embedded in our DNA! Musical expression is not something reserved for virtuosos in symphony halls and pop arenas, but a basic function of human life.
