About Music Together® of SF

Music Together, our award-winning, research-based program, has been leading the field of early childhood music education since 1987. Bring your newborn, baby, infant, toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener to one of our fun-filled classes, and we think you’ll see why thousands of Bay Area families over the years have valued making music with us every week. Together, we create a supportive community where everyone engages in experiential play, cute musical moments erupt spontaneously, and beautiful memories are made. Take the time to sing, move, and connect with your child. Explore musical play and child-friendly instruments in class and enjoy songbooks, CDs, and the Music Together app at home. Our wonderful teachers and staff are here to guide you every step of the way. We serve children, newborn to 5 years of age, and the adults who love them. Children with special needs, grandparents, extended family, and caregivers are all welcome in our classes.

We offer morning and afternoon classes every day of the week at convenient locations in Noe Valley, Dogpatch/Potrero Hill, SoMa/South Beach, Glen Park, and St Francis Wood neighborhoods of San Francisco, as well as in Pacifica. Access our class schedule, FAQ and fees pages, and learn more about our sibling discounts.

Besides our very popular Mixed Ages class, we also have a class just for babies (0-8 months)!

Numerous independent articles and studies highlight the value of musical education in childhood, and as a result, our program is founded on the following:

  • All children are musical, so all children can achieve basic music competence, i.e., they can all learn to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm.

  • The participation and modeling of parents and caregivers, regardless of their musical ability, is essential to a child's musical growth.

  • This growth is best achieved in a playful, developmentally-appropriate, non-performance-oriented learning environment that is musically rich yet immediately accessible to the child's, and the adult's participation.

“I started Music Together of San Francisco in 2001 when my son was just 6 months old and this Fall he began filling out college applications for music conservatories around the country! We wanted to create a solid beginning for Bay Area children and their families and I know we’ve done just that judging from our continued popularity. Filling this need with great teachers and curriculum and building community with arts education is what we are about at MTSF. It does my heart good to see the program continue to thrive and watch the little ones turn into musical human beings.” - MTSF Founder & Executive Director Paul Godwin

Music Together is an internationally recognized, early childhood music program for children and the adults who love them. First offered in 1987, it pioneered the concept of an early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes adult involvement. Our mission is to provide the highest quality, research-based early childhood music education program to the entire family. Our early childhood educators care about co-creating a fun, educational environment. We strive to offer a space where all voices are welcome, emphasizing the joy of music rather than "perfection."
