Aaliyah Capili first fell in love with music through the karaoke-filled Filipino parties she grew up attending. Watching relatives and family friends sing and play music together deeply inspired her. From a young age, she knew she wanted to sing and began taking voice lessons at the age of ten. Singing and music quickly became a central part of her life; she participated in musicals, singing competitions, and sang in choirs and at church.
When her wonderful voice teacher introduced her to opera, it ignited her passion for becoming an opera singer. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Music Teaching at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she has enjoyed performing in operas both within and beyond the conservatory. She plans to continue her studies by earning a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. In addition to performing, Aaliyah finds great joy in teaching singing and music to children. In her free time, she also enjoys creating singing reaction videos on her YouTube channel.
"My teaching style centers on finding joy in learning and embracing the idea that music is not about perfection. I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where everyone can explore, have fun, and connect through music. That is why I am so excited to be part of Music Together®—to use music as a tool for joy with both children and adults. I hope to give back what music has given me and to show that you do not need to be a professional musician to experience and enjoy music"
