Mixed Ages (Newborn through 4 years old) Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because it fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones; older children learn by leading the younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. The class provides a variety of adult-child activities that are fun and offer new ways to play musically at home. Any caregiver can bring the child or children-nanny, grandparent, babysitter, or parents. The whole family-adults and children under four-are welcome for this essential family music experience.
Babies Class - (Newborns through 8 months old) Every child's music development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger can attend a mixed-ages class free with a registered sibling. Babies may also attend the special "Babies Class" offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.
Big Kids' Class - (3 to 7 year olds) If your three- to seven-year-old has attended several semesters of Music Together, he or she may be ready for this class. Bring your child for the same outstanding music with some different kinds of activities - musical games, rhythm improvisation, independent singing, dance improvisation, and dramatic play. Teachers work with individual skill levels and interests.
